I just love these two so much. We are (finally!) about to enter the craziness that is berry harvest, and lose this handsome guy to the farm for the next six weeks or so, and despite the bummer that obviously is, I think we’re all ready. As ready as you can be, I guess. Both of us feel a little more confident this year, like we know what to expect, and since the weather has delayed things so much this spring, I think we’d all like to just get things going at this point.
Though we’ll miss him dearly the next couple months, I can’t help but think about how grateful I am for such a wonderful person to share my life with. Someone so hardworking, thoughtful, wise, compassionate, humble and patient. He’s not perfect. We still have our squabbles, and though his stubbornness is a little more quiet than mine, we still butt heads now and again. But he just always shows up and gives us his best, even when he’s tired. He’s just the very best person I know, and the love of my life. I’m so dang lucky.
And then there’s the way that Emmett’s face explodes with joy when he hears him at the back door. How he whimpers every time Taylor leaves the room. He absolutely adores his Dad, loves visiting the farm and driving tractors, and I think of all of us, the next couple months will be hardest on him. It breaks my heart when he cries every morning as Dad heads off to work. Thank goodness we get to live right on the farm, get to share meals and make and quick visits happen pretty easily.
Anyway, I just wanted to post these cute pics and say thank you to my sweet husband for being such a wonderful Dad, partner and farmer. You make our ridiculously beautiful life possible, and I’m so happy and so thankful for it and for you.
